Meat Minds is a 12-month programme designed to develop and support the red meat supply chain in Wales.
By bringing bright minds together, the aim is to stimulate discussion, increase understanding and cultivate connections between different links in the supply chain, across Wales and on a global level.

- Age 21-35
- Involved in the red meat supply chain
- Passion about red meat production and promotion
- Interested in research & development
- Keen to see the supply chain become more efficient and sustainable
- Ambitious motivated and enthusiastic
Successful applicants will benefit from three engaging elements:
Develop your expertise in specialist areas of the meat supply chain!
Five sessions will be held under five module themes, providing a mix of practical sessions, constructive discussions and exposure to internationally renowned meat scientists and commercial leaders.
Theme 1: Meat Minds – industry leaders
Theme 2: The Farmed Environment
Theme 3: One Health – connection between animal and human health
Theme 4: Red Meat supply chain efficiencies from farm to fork. How can we influence meat quality and consumer satisfaction?
Theme 5: Production, Processing and Profitability
There will be further options for members to attend conferences, HCC led events and to participate in promotional activity.
Cultivate new connections and broaden your knowledge of the sector!
Each individual will be assigned a separate mentor from within the supply chain. Group members will initially meet their mentor to understand the business area of the supply chain in which they operate. Following this, there will be the opportunity to spend a working day with the mentor, with findings forming the basis of discussion sessions during the themed module days.
Contribute towards a group project to generate new industry information!
The group will design and develop a project during the initial session, with the end goal of producing information and data that can be published for wider industry benefit. The research area is the decision of the group with the potential to explore on farm practices, supply chain efficiencies and consumer perceptions.
How will it work?
The programme will be delivered across 6 days over a 12-month period. This will consist of:
- 5 days of module delivery
- 1 day with a designated mentor
